About This Website

Sometime during 1999 an attempt was made to produce a website for L&RBKA. I was passed the URL by a friend, as I was very green as far as the use of the IBM PC was concerned, I pulled it to pieces to see how it worked. I got the idea of the hexagon background, that still occurs on a few pages on my main website, from this fragment.

In April 2000 I decided I would produce myself an experimental website. This has become quite a monster and is untidy in some of it's nooks and crannies, but it receives many accolades and comments from grateful surfers... So it can't be that bad.

I am a member of L&RBKA and have served on it's committee of trustees for many years. I produced a rather crude website for the beekeeping association, early in 1991, that I touted to several members of the committee that were 'wired', but there was no enthusiasm for my idea and so I dropped it. I still feel that the association will benefit from a web presence and so I have revamped the original material and I now host it as an 'unofficial' website.

There is no malice intended in this unofficiality, the information given is true and factual, but this way I retain editorial freedom. Any L&RBKA member is free to submit '.txt' information, that is relevant, for publication within these pages. I will be seeking co-operation from other L&RBKA trustees to enable publication of various documents that are their combined intellectual property.

My current function within L&RBKA is as member of the Brooksby bee yard sub committee and as such I act as a clerk at the Tuesday meetings:-

Additionally I undertake to explain or demonstrate any beekeeping procedure or method that is not covered in the general education program. This can be done with empty boxes or with live bees as appropriate and it can be done at the Brooksby site, your apiary or mine according to circumstance.

I live a few miles from Brooksby at:-

Coding is by hand to ensure small file size and good transmission speed, and is first and foremost, in accordance with HTML 4 as per W3C, additional code to support Internet Explorer (6 and later) as the most popular browser and Netscape (version 6 and later), as the second favourite, has been added. The browser specific items in IE & Netscape work tolerably well. Where there are differences, IE appears to give the most presentable rendition. Support is not provided for 'text only' browsers.

Navigation is by context sensitive menus in the upper left corner, with extra facilities in the strap that occurs at bottom left of every page.

The 'Home' button at extreme top left of this page will take you to the main page on my Beekeeping & Bee Breeding website. The HOME button in the white lozenges will take you back to the main page of this unofficial L&RBKA website.

The yellow A-Z button at top right of this page will allow you to search the main beekeeping site and it has an extensive alphabetic index of pages.

The RETURN button will take you back to whatever page you have come from, if this is not where you wanted to go you can always navigate using the INDEX button in the bottom strap.

There are links within some pages that will take you relevant pages on my main website. To return from these to your original place you can use the 'Back' button of your browser or if the particular page has a button like the one shown at right, it will also return you to the page that you were browsing on this site. Return or go back

The INDEX in the bottom strap will take you to the alphabetic index of the entire L&RBKA site, it will also provide a brief description of the subject matter of each individual page or set of pages.

When there is a little more content, I will add a search engine that will search the site itself. I may well include a search engine that will search the web within the limited range of beekeeping topics.

The 'Contact' button in the strap gives details of our current L&RBKA secretary. If you have any comments about this website or have noticed any errors, then you should Email me personally.
