A PAGE TO LIST THOSE NAMES WHICH HAVE STUCK IN THE MEMORY.

Also to pay tribute to their perseverance in ensuring that an inquisitive nature and a need to perform, rubbed off on their flock.

From Shaun's archive comes a well known face.

A fresh entry!

Have been looking at the lists of Masters at Aske's and noted one omission:
Roger Willis who was my English and form master for my first two
years(65-6, 66-7).  I believe he was himself an old boy of the school.
He accompanied us on the then traditional trip to Scotland,
when we stayed in a hostel between Fort William and Ballachuilish -
before the latter had a bridge.
The other masters on the trip were Arthur Grant and Jeff Barber.
Roger left the school before I did (72) and I believe he got a headship
 but I don't know where.

Roger, Tony Harding, Jack Allen, Chris Bratt and above
all Dr 'Bert' Tigg were the teachers who influenced me most at the school.

I know that there were several who came and went who I cannot not name, but
it soes make me
realise how low the turnover in staff was. Perhaps a shame as many of them
were such dreadful teachers!
I am starting to get a bit
nostalgic and dead curious about what happened to everyone!

Any one got any idea of when "PERCY" Percival (both Maths and Form Teacher) retired?

There are a number of others whose faces I remember but I can’t recall their names as they didn’t teach me. I think the fact that a lot of the staff stayed so long is an indication that they liked the school, rather than that they were crap teachers who couldn’t get a job elsewhere. Having been a teacher myself, I can see that most of them were very good.

The houses during my sojourn were as follows:

Grants (red house button, tie and rugby shirt)

Brooklands (purple)

Hawkins (green)

Daykins (blue)

Gordons (until 1967, then Huberts until c 1970, then Barbers) (maroon)
