tribute to their perseverance in ensuring that an inquisitive nature and a need to
perform,rubbed off on their flock.

From David Brooker
Seeing a list of masters on the site set me thinking. These are the ones I can come up with for my time at Aske's, 69-76. As an additonal mental excercise, I've roughly listed them, insofar as I can recollect according to the room that I associate them with , starting from room one and working upwards!
Dr Bert Tigg - german Harold Tillek - economics and Russian Roy Hart - geography and history Mr Jones-Owen - economics Bill Kerridge - maths Dermot Poston - English Jock Saunders - maths and technical drawing Mr Daykin - history Tony Harding - English Colin Irving - English Ron Tutt - geography Jeff Barber - geography, surveying and logic Mr Patterson - biology Dennis Brookland - physics Mr Phillips - chemistry Mr Scholes - chemistry Arthur Grant - biology Mr Hunt - lab tech. Jack Allen - French and German David Lightfoot - German and French Mr Dolan - German Stan Berry - woodwork Wilf Hawkins - art Mr Harding - art Mr Hugget - PE Mr Hugo - PE Harry Atkins - Latin, Greek and RE Mr Aldrin - RE Mr Philips - economics Gordon Thornett - music Bob Miller - music Carrick Thompson - music Cecile Kennard - strings Gerald Howard - cello Rosemary Chandler - piano and harp Bob Martin - brass Alan Cave - oboe and bassoon Gerald Sexton - vice master Ron Harrison - vice master
I know that there were several who came and went who I cannot not name, but it soes make me realise how low the turnover in staff was. Perhaps a shame as many of them were such dreadful teachers! I am starting to get a bit nostalgic and dead curious about what happened to everyone!

There are a number of others whose faces I remember but I can’t recall their names as they didn’t teach me. I think the fact that a lot of the staff stayed so long is an indication that they liked the school, rather than that they were crap teachers who couldn’t get a job elsewhere. Having been a teacher myself, I can see that most of them were very good.
The houses during my sojourn were as follows:
Grants (red house button, tie and rugby shirt)
Brooklands (purple)
Hawkins (green)
Daykins (blue)
Gordons (until 1967, then Huberts until c 1970, then Barbers) (maroon)
