John Wolledge   at Haberdashers Aske's from 1924 to 1935

My father, John Wolledge, was at Haberdashers Aske's from 1924 - 1935.
He is now 87 and I told him I had found your homepage (for former pupils of
the Boys School), which you had opened in July 1998 to attract the attention of former pupils!
I keep re-reading it and can't work out to whom I should send this e-mail - I hope I'm sending it to the correct address!
I'm attaching a little piece my father has written.  Is it possible that you can post it
on your website in case there is anyone out there who remembers him
- not sure how it works.
Anyway, I attach the information and hope perhaps the son of a former
pupil will read it and wonder if his father knew my father!
Kind regards.

HABERDASHERS ASKE’S HATCHAM BOYS SCHOOL

I am told that there is an internet request for any information regarding the abovementioned school by a former pupil wishing to start a website for former Old Askeans.

About 40 years ago when I was working in Lewes, East Sussex, I happened to see two or three copies of a book entitled "Reminiscences of a Headmaster Aske’s School 1932-61 E.H. Goddard" in a second hand shop.
Lewes is the nearest town to Hassocks where Mr. Goddard lived and I imagine that they
were in the shop due to a house clearance. It was probably privately printed
and I have the name of the printer - I would not wish to part with my copy.

I have been confined to my home for 5 months following a hip operation and I find
remembrances of my past are often in my thoughts.

I went to Aske’s in 1924 and left in 1935 and have many memories of my time there.

If this information is of use to you I should be pleased to hear from you.

You may be interested to know that one of the notables educated at Aske’s
was Chris Tarrant who appeared to be wearing an Old Askean tie.

Happy memories!

John Wolledge
