This Statue, of a tribal chieftain, was once the figure head of the sailing vessel "Demerara", which was irreparably grounded on its maiden voyage in the 19th century. Initially salvaged and mounted on the front of Demerara House, which stood on the site of what is now Sun-Alliance House (formerly Electricity House) in the City Centre, it was moved to the frontage of the "Horn and Trumpet" public house, by the Hippodrome.
