A few comments and Photo's from some of my customers

G,day David,
we recently moved into a new apartment in the city and Carole suggested that the Birdseye Maple Hodson looked so beautiful it should be "on display" on a stand which is great as I can pick it up and play it at any time. Other than my Stratocaster it is the only guitar allowed in the home. Thanks again for a great guitar.
All the best, be in touch, Hank. B Marvin

Hi David
The guitar made another outing at the weekend. Everyone liked it, it is very well balanced, has a unique tone, and sounds great through the PA! What more could one ask....

This guitar has really inspired me. I'm really made up with it.

David -- I'm pleased beyond words to speak of the great experience I've had dealing with you, and playing the guitar you built for me -- hopefully I'll drive a few people to check out your work, but at the end of the day your guitars will sell themselves.
Thing is, I think you "get" the Selmac "feeling" whereas a lot of other luthiers, namely XXXXX, just don't. They look nice, but that's it.

I must say very pleased with it. Not only nice to look at (and much lighter to the feel than I expected) but with a beautiful tone to boot. It is a joy to play. All I have to do now is improve my playing so that I do it justice:-)
Regards,
Chris Holyoak

Having had my new Hodson guitar now for a couple of weeks now I couldn't be happier. I was just blown away. The sound is exactly what I was looking for in a guitar, and the guitar which he built for me sounds about the same as Jorgenson's, though being so new it still it needs to be played for a while before it really sings (I can't imagine how it could sound any
better than it does already but I'm told these guitars improve a lot with age and playing).

Hodson guitars seem to have a much richer sound-world than many Selmer copies and I am astounded by the perfect intonation (I have never had a guitar so in tune with itself). I am also blown away be the feel and the physical beauty of the instrument (model 503SR). As soon as I started to quiz David about guitars a mere couple of months ago I knew
that he was a luthier of quality who knew and loved his trade. I had the feeling from the beginning that the whole interaction was like going to a personal tailor. These guitars are works of art, built with care and attention by David alone in his own custom built workshop (so you can be sure you won't get a dud built by some careless apprentice). Every detail is considered important throughout the process of building, right down to the humidity of the workshop; and each guitar
comes with a case, humidifier, strings, shims and a large plectrum. I requested a pickup and David supplied and fitted a Bigtone without charging for labour at all (I think it cost £50 extra, bringing the grand total to only £1,283). Don't let the price of these guitars fool you, they are equally as good and maybe better than many of the guitars
which ask twice the price. Even including shipping to the US these guitars will probably cost you less than many US built instruments.
I am writing this post because I was so impressed with my new guitar that I just had to share my excitement, and I really hope it will  encourage others to buy Hodson guitars. I have never owned such a beautiful instrument  As for the finish, David uses as little as possible (3 very thin coats), saying that too much can just choke the sound. Not that the finish looks inadequate or anything, on the contrary, the finish on these guitars is more natural looking than many. There is a beautiful sheen (as opposed to the garish reflection encountered on some of these instruments).

I was extremely impressed when I reached the workshop and David showed me around. He made everything look so simple! The mark of a true craftsman. I was thinking to myself as he showed me through the process "Wow this is so easy! I could make one in the morning!" Of course later that evening when I gave it a little more thought I realised that what David had just shown me was actually incredibly complicated but just looked easy in the hands of the master. Think of how chilled out Django looks playing J'Attendrai...
So in conclusion for those of you in the market for a new guitar, do yourself a favour and buy a Hodson. XXX may be cheaper but there is simply no comparison when it comes to playability, looks, sound and feel so if you can find those extra few bucks to buy a Hodson you won't regret it.  I am now very glad that I bought a Hodson.
All the Best,
Breandán.

David, My guitar arrived in excellent shape! It was the wait and will provide me with much enjoyment for years to come. Thanks again. All the best, Larry

Good Morning David,
Well, I got the guitar yesterday and I can't tell you how happy I am with it. My wife called at nine and said it was there, so I left work early. Played it all day and night. I'm amazed at how unexpectedly light it is, as well as the volume. The photo's don't do the Bubinga justice. It is just gorgeous. Thank you so much for your excellent work and providing such enjoyment.  Jack Lanier

This guitar gives pleasure each time I remove it from the case - the workmanship is top class and everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) who has seen and heard it is enraptured. This is the guitar I have been waiting for all my life - it is quite superb. What more can I say but thanks for bringing it into my life.  Michael Smith

O'sio David...
I feel quite fortunate indeed to possess a Selmer/Maccaferri style, David Hodson Tenor..
Thanks again
