Asthma is a condition in which there is a widespread narrowing of the bronchial airways which can change in severity over a short period of time leading to coughing, wheezing and difficulty in breathing. The onset of Asthma is often in early life and can be in those with an atomic disposition that may also suffer from hay fever. The herbalist will aim to reduce the sensitivity of the patient to allergens whilst also treating the symptoms and reducing the severity and incidence of asthma attacks. Often some dietary changes are found to be very useful in treating asthma. It often the case that herbal medicine is taken along side conventional treatments. Herbs are normally taken as tinctures diluted in water and infusions. |
