Eric Harry Chaplin was born in 1913 and baptised at St Laurences church on 6 March 1913.
Eric married Violet Hone, daughter of William Hone, a canal labourer on 16 December 1939. He was at the time a painter but was called up to be signaller during the war. Eric shared the Chaplin family musical talents and played the violin.
