John William EVANS "Will" was born about 1890 in Dawley and was christened 15 May 1890 at Dawley Magna. He moved to Coventry with his family whilst a young man and was at one time running a Newsagent at "The Partings of the Heaths", Foleshill, Coventry. He later moved to Wellington, Shropshire with his family in around 1920., Will was a keen athlete, running for Birchfield Harriers and was 1 mile Champion in 1912-1914. He won many prizes, one of which was a Marble mantle clock that sat on our mantle piece for several years, long after it had stopped working.
Will married Doris Jenkins.
I have knowledge of them having only one child:
Jeffery EVANS., born 12 March 1919. Jeffery became a policeman and was thought to be in Rotherham in about 1950.
