irIdearecords proudly presents:

Merlin The Rock Opera

A Double Cd that comes in a wonderful box with no plastic, “Merlin” is the score of the same musical written by Fabio Zuffanti of Finisterre and the English lyricist and poet Victoria Heward. With 8 singers, a choir of 17 elements and a band of 11 musicians, a first class production and superb sound quality, this work is set to become an absolute must for all those seeking musical challenges.

Progressive rock, gothic, folk, metal, classical, celtic and ethnic echoes are melted and treated with the magical tools that only real artists are capable of: melody, fantasy, strength and cleverness at their best, in the music as in the lyrics.

Nevertheless, “Merlin – The Rock Opera” not only has the potential to hit the crowds of progressive lovers, but also a far more varied audience: a well known English theatrical production company has expressed serious interest in bringing the show to GB, while the Italian version will start touring in Italy since October.

If you are interested in buying copies for your shop, discussing a distribution deal for your country, or you would like to know more about this and future releases, please contact us.
Thank you very much.

The Pain of Salvation News Letter
August 2000
This issue's headlines:
  • Info about new album "The Perfect Element, part I"
  • Video recorded for "Ashes" off the new album
  • European tour with ARENA this October
  • Give us your suggestion for a set-list
  • Pain of Salvation voted best Swedish metal band
Hello everybody! Long time no see. We are sorry for having been slightly "out of touch" but we have been up to our necks with the new album. We entered the studio (Roasting House Studio as usual) in March and the recording took 11 weeks, not counting a few weeks break here and there. Anyway, now we are back and ready to give you the latest. Dig in!
Info about new album "The Perfect Element, part I"

The new album will be called "The Perfect Element, part I" and, as the title suggests, it is the first part of a two piece concept. Daniel has made all of the artwork himself this time, and the awaited album will be released in October:

16 October, Europe
18 October, Asia
31 October, USA

The concept of the album revolves around two broken people's meeting and history, and is on the surface level a story of loss and adolescence - a classic Bildungsroman with emphasis on abuse and violence in a social context. The album could musically be said to be a blend of Entropia's originality and groove and One Hour's focus and production - but in addition to that it is of course a unique disc with lots of new elements. The bottom line is that if you prefer Entropia you will love this new album, and if you prefer One Hour you will love this new album.

There will be a bonus track on the Japanese version and a limited edition in Europe and USA, and the album will be available on the upcoming tour in October - even before the official release dates!

A video has just been made for one of the songs from the album - "Ashes" - and you can see photos from the shooting at the official home page: http://fast.to/pos

New video

On the 21st of August, we recorded the video for the new song "Ashes". The preceding days we built the complete set ourselves in a large industry hall in Eskilstuna, to get everything our own way. The video was directed and edited by Swedish upcoming star Rainer Holmgren. An entire room was built and furnitured in the industry hall, just to be wrecked and burnt down a few hours later, since the complete shooting was done on one single day.

The video will be on the Limited Edition of "The Perfect Element, part I" as a CD-rom track, available in Europe and USA, along with some previous POS videos. It will be officially released along with the album inOctober. However, the album will be available already on the tour with Arena late September and the first half of October. As mentioned - see some photos from the recording at the official site!

Threshold - the UK's #1 progressive metal band . . .

NEW THRESHOLD ALBUM

Following the success of 1998's classic album "Clone", Threshold are currently working on their fifth studio album due for release early in 2001. The album is expect to be around 60 minutes long containing nine songs, including The ravages of time, Light and space, Oceanbound, Sheltering sky, Long way home, Keep my head and Narcissus.

The band line-up will be the same as on the 1999 European tour, namely Mac (vocals), Karl Groom (guitars), Nick Midson (guitars), Jon Jeary (bass), Richard West (keyboards) and Johanne James (drums).

THRESHOLD OFFICIALLY LEAVE GEP RECORDS

After four studio albums Threshold have now parted company with UK record label GEP Records. The band are currently talking to other labels and are confident of a positive announcement soon. The move away from GEP had been expected for a while, so that the new album could be released by a more prominent label with a stronger stance in the metal music market.

MAC SOLO ALBUM

Threshold vocalist Mac is currently busy recording his debut solo album "In the meantime" in Germany. Musicians collaborating on the project include guitarist Paul Quinn (Saxon) and bassist Carsten Rebentisch (ex-Sargant Fury).

Landmarq News

Greetings,

T R A C Y ' S W O R L D . . . .

At last, Tracy's very own section of the Landmarq website is now on line. As with most Internet websites, this will be a continually evolving event and as such there will be more added to it as time goes by. Tracy welcomes any comments and/or suggestions you may have regarding her 'world' either by emailing from the site or leaving a message in the Guestbook.

B A J A P R O G, M E X I C O . . . .

Landmarq are continuing to break new ground gig-wise with an offer to appear at next year's Baja Prog festival in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. Details have yet to be finalised but it should be happening around the beginning of March 2001. Ay, chihuahua!

T H E N E T H E R L A N D S . . . . Landmarq have also been booked to play in far more familiar territory; that is, back in their 'second home' - Holland. Having said that, the area is new to us. The gig will be in Hellendoorn (not far from Almelo) and the date is Friday 17th November 2000. More details when we have them.

G R E E N S L A D E . . . . In the last newsletter, the date for the gig with Greenslade was given as Sunday 26th November. We are, in fact, still to confirm with the promoter the exact date. We'll let you know asap.

W H I T C H U R C H P I C S . . . . Our old mate Juan Araneda has sent a few photos taken during the acoustic set at Whitchurch 2000. They've now been added to the website. (go to Photos -> Gig Pix).

Cheers for now, Tracy - Steve G. - Dave - Steve L. - Uwe

News from Bjorn Lynne...

Hi everyone, I'm sorry you haven't heard anything from me in a little while. It must have been about a month since I wrote? I just thought I'd give you a little update.
---------------------------------------------
Two CD releases coming very soon Pre-orders taken now
---------------------------------------------

1) "Top Production Samples Vol. 1", with samples and loops produced in my studio...
2) Divinorum "Talisman", the long-awaited new Divinorum album!
Both of these CDs are at the CD-factory right now, being duplicated. They told me they have a turnaround time of 7-10 days, but actually it has been 19 days since I gave them the "Top Production Samples" CD, and 11 days since I gave them Divinorum "Talisman".

So I expect to be able to sell these CDs any day now... I will of course write again with a more proper "announcement" of these two CDs. The last track that was added to the new Divinorum album was a quite intense and 'in your face' trance/rock track called "The Human Male", which I decided to put as the opening-track of the CD.

It is actually the first time I have not been able to stop playing one of my own tracks. I tend to play it on 'repeat', louder and louder for each time! Usually I don't really play my own tracks that much after I have finished them. Anyway, both these CDs are now available to pre-order from my web site. They will be shipping in a few days.

If you pre-order now, I will send it to you as soon as I get them from the CD-factory.

To order: http://www.lynnemusic.com/how-to-order.html
Some info about the Samples & Loops CD: http://www.lynnemusic.com/tps1.html

A real web-page for Divinorum "Talisman" has not been made yet, but is coming soon. If you pre-order them now, please keep in mind that I will not be able to send out the CD within the usual 2 days after I receive the order because (1) I haven't got the CDs yet, and (2) when I get them, I will have a lot of orders to go through, so it may take a little extra time. So if you pre-order these CDs now, please be a little patient, and don't write to me in 3 days, asking where the @"#!"? £**$ your CD are... Thanks! :-) A 'real' announcement/presentation of the CDs will follow...

-----------------------------------------
New long mega-mix track for free download
-----------------------------------------

I spent a couple of days and created a long "Mega-Mix" of the music that I made a couple of years ago for the 'Worms' table of the game "Addiction Pinball". This ended up as "Addiction Pinball - Worms Megamix", is about 18 minutes long (!) and now available to download from http://www.mp3.com/gametracks

Be warned though, it's a long track, and a BIG download. About 16.5 mb.... So if you are on a modem, it will take you a long time to download it. As I said, this music was written about 2-3 years ago. It's not meant very seriously, but previous listeners have had fun with it, so... :-) There was also a 'rally' track in the same game. So I will also make a long mega-mix of the music I made for that rally-table... I guess it will be "Addiction Pinball - Rally MegaMix". But this is not ready yet. I'll let you know when it is.

--------------------------
Going International
--------------------------

I am now working on a small version of my web site in many different languages, for those who do not feel 100% comfortable with English.

If you go to my web site http://www.lynnemusic.com you will now be able to choose between the main web site in English, OR you can see a smaller web-site in various languages: Bjorn Lynne & Divinorum - en français Bjorn Lynne y Divinorum - en español Bjorn Lynne & Divinorum - in deutscher Sprache Bjorn Lynne & Divinorum - in lingua Italiana Bjørn Lynne & Divinorum - på Norsk Bjørn Lynne & Divinorum - på Dansk

Coming up within the next couple of days are also: Finnish (Suomeksi), Polish, Swedish (svenska) and Russian. I am still looking for some help to translate into Dutch (Nederlands), Japanese and Portugese!

So if you speak and write (fluently) either of these languages and can help me with translating from English... then please let me know. You will not be translating my whole web site, only one page. And I will give you a free CD in return for the favour.

Plus: If you know any other languages that you think should be included, and you can offer to translate to that language (remember, it's only 1 page), then please let me know! I would like to include as many languages as possible.

---------------------------------------------
On the cover of 'Classic Rock' magazine
---------------------------------------------

I have been featured in magazines before, and even been mentioned on front covers, but those magazines have been underground special-interest magazines and fanzines (they are always the coolest magazines, anyway!). But right now I am on the front of "Classic Rock" magazine, which is a flashy, glossy high-street magazine which is on all the magazine-shelves in the United Kingdom.

I'm not the "main feature" on the cover! I am only *mentioned* on the cover ;-). I haven't seen it myself, but I've been told. I guess I have to go and look for the magazine in the shop. The magazine's cover-CD also features my track "Queen Hantilia", taken from my CD "Wolves of the Gods".

---------------------------------------------
Today's free CD
---------------------------------------------

Well, I promised you that every time I send out a newsletter, I will give a free CD to a random subscriber to my mailing list. And here is today's winner: ---------------> Martin Ehmen, from Germany Martin, please go to my web site, find any CD you want for free, and email me with your CD-wish and your full postal address - and I will send you the CD. Okay, that's all for today.

I hope you all are enjoying the summer (what's left of it) and having a good time out there. I'm eagerly awaiting delivery from the CD-factory of those two CDs, and trying to do something useful with my time, while I'm waiting. :-)

Take care folks, - Bjorn Lynne, a.k.a. "Divinorum" -

Dear Woronzow lfans,

At last, after much delay (which was outside of our control, honest) we are pleased to announce that we can accept all major credit cards via the Woronzow website. No more hiding money or expensive IMOs it couldn't be easier.

This is assuming that you have a credit card, of course. So, don't worry if you haven't got sufficient money in your pockets, get into unnecessary debt straight away and to hell with the rent. This service is brought to you by Worldpay PLC and therefore completely safe, utilising the most modern encryption coding, it says here. It'll even convert your orders into several major currencies so you'll know just how much debt you're getting into.

On a different tack, not only are the Bevis Frond playing Terrastock 4 in Seattle in November but we are playing what will probably be our last gig for some while a couple of weeks later. Along with The Alchemysts, Lucky Bishops and Outskirts of Infinity, the Frond will be playing at the Standard Music Venue, opposite Blackhorse road tube station on November 19th. More info to follow nearer the time. I hope you're all well and prospering, Very best wishes, Ade Woronzow Records Woronzow website - www.woronzow.co.uk
