DIVERSE specializes in the optical design of lights and luminaires. Designs of luminaires are modelled using a variety of proprietary photometric software tools, including Opticad, with predictions of illumination distribution made before committing to expensive tooling.

Extensive software modelling is used used to design and analyse a wide range of optical systems. Examples range from luminaires to lasers, from aircraft landing lights to medical instruments and fire detectors - even the light guide for the heater control panel in a top selling modern car.

Luminaire development can be expensive, especially when industrial design, stereo lithography and plastic mould tools are required. Where volumes permit, DIVERSE will undertake the optical design at a nominal cost. In return, DIVERSE will take a small royalty on each unit produced. A number of major companies have already taken advantage of this approach which improves cash flow, reduces risk and ensures that all parties have a shared commercial objective - the success of the product.

Examples of DIVERSE luminaire designs:

  • The Bardic Zenith emergency luminaire

  • Marlin - uplighter and up/down lights for the new Inland Revenue Building, Nottingham

  • The Siemens Custodian

  • MR16 downlighters for GE and Corning

  • Street lights for Thorn.
