Examples of complete medical instruments designed by Diverse include:

  • Zircon - a system which reduces varicose veins by exposing them to high energy broadband light. 
  • Mictymeter - an instrument for monitoring urine outflow from post operative patients. 
  • Stent Illumination - intra-uterine illumination so that surgeons can see vessels during an operation

Recently we have worked on culture dish scintillation counting using a fibre optic bundle, detection techniques for low level fluorescence assay work and temperature control . We have also worked on the development of electroporation of red blood cells. The result has been recognised as a tremendous improvement over existing techniques for loading drugs.

Zircon - Varicose Vein Reducer

This product developed in conjunction with a UK medical equipment supplier produces a large pulse of optical energy designed to coagulate blood in the treatment area in the blood vessels beneath the skin. Diverse designed a flashlamp for this application, high efficiency non-imaging optics and a power supply of 800V at 1200A.

The product includes control over the energy supplied, single or multi-pulse operation and built in calibration to ensure the correct dose rate.
