Abbey, Pilgrim Herb Garden, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk.

This Green Man is above the door out of the Pilgrim Herb Garden on the north facing wall  as you enter the cathedral car park from the abbey gardens. In this example leaves appear to sprout from the bridge of his nose, which makes him somewhat unusual.

The Green Man  was unearthed when work was being undertaken to create what is now the herb garden in the grounds of the abbey.

The Green Man watches over those entering and leaving the herb garden.
