Dyfi Valley Demographics
Population
The geography of the Dyfi Valley has no respect for man-made administrative divisions, and it straddles three current Local Authorities : the southern boundary of Gwynedd, the northern tip of Dyfed, and the north-western extremity of Powys. Over the years, there has been a succession of attempts to come up with suitable subdivisions of these, in the form of counties (Merionethshire/Montgomeryshire/Cardiganshire) and parishes. These changes make it very difficult to compare like for like.
As it happens, the area is currently quite conveniently covered by modern subdivisions known as wards, and the following fit rather well, although extending just a bit beyond the catchment area of Dyfi and its tributaries:
