Soon we'd established who was departing on which date and what each other's gravest fears about the trip were. Admittedly the popular choice for this category seemed to be a distinct apprehension towards the culinary preparations to be consumed on the trip and, more to the point, the after effects of eating said foodstuffs, namely there are no loos.
Obvious though it may seem, until we are actually faced with the reality of surviving this wilderness, there is still much to be learnt, most of which is beyond our comprehension at this early stage. But anyway, now we have met our co-trekkers and swapped fundraising ideas till we're blue in the face, had a tremendous briefing by Ges on some of the fantastic work performed by Sense, closely followed by Nigel's talk providing us with an indepth insight of what we are up against and exactly what we'll be encountering whilst on the trek, I think we are far more prepared to face the challenge ahead than this time last month.
A personal favourite part of the afternoon for me (apart from tea and biscuits of course) was a chance to see a detailed map of the exact area in which we'll be camping and trekking. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there wasn't much else apart from extremely close together contour lines and a lot of white bits, brrrr!
Hurrah and beyond!
