Head 1999

Seyed Edalatpour   was born in Shiraz, Iran, in 1962 and since 1983 has been living and working in England. Following a Foundation Course at Camberwell School of Art he obtained a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art (Sculpture) at Norwich School of Art. He went on to complete the Interdisciplinary MA in Art and Architecture at the Kent Institute of Art and Design at Canterbury. An exhibition at Art'98, the London Contemporary Art Fair, was the first major showing of his work in London. Seyed Edalatpour was given a separate room to house a major sculptural work, 12 and the 13th (1997-98), an installation of thirteen heads carved in Portland Stone. In March 1999 he was awarded the Millfield Sculpture Commission (Head 1999)for a new work in Portland Stone and in July and August the Atkinson Gallery at Millfield gave him a one-man show, which included sculpture, drawings and prints. Head 2000 was his second commission which coincided with his current position as Artist-in-Residence and Art Teacher at Millfield Preparatory School. "Circling the Square" was the title of his installation at Wolverhampton Museum in 2000. Since 1993 he has been regularly exhibiting at both the London and New York Print Fairs. Seyed Edalatpour is currently working on two major works, Square and Chehltan Which are due for completion in 2004 and 2005.
