The 220 series uses small exponential horn cells sharing a common throat and correctly angled relative to one another to ensure an even acoustic distribution, thus overcoming the basic defect of the narrow channel of sound distribution obtainable from a reproducer having only a single flare or mouth opening.
The 220 series is made up of a wide range of hand made multicell horns from 3 to 15 cells, all with a cutoff of frequency of 220Hz. Typically 80 degree (4 cells wide) and 100 degree (5 cells wide) horizontal and 40 degree (2 cells high) and 60 degree (3 cells high) vertical distribution patterns can be chosen. All horns are available with a single or double 13/8 inch threaded (E-type) or 2.620 inch threaded (S-type) entries.
-Constructed from sheet metal with spaces filled with a special non resonant compound (I’ve seen reference that this was in fact sawdust at some stages of production).
-Intended primarily to form the high frequency of large multi channel speakers in cinemas, theatres and large auditoriums where an even distribution of sound over a predetermined area is of vital importance.
-220E for use with GP1 and GP2 drivers (E thread) for PA or similar applications.
-220S for use with S2 (S thread) where greater efficiency and extended frequency response is required in multi channel speakers.
-Single or double entry possible.
-Cell mouth opening 8 inches square, 20 degree per cell acoustic distribution.
-Finished in matt black.
-Other cell arrangements were available to order
