IRREGULAR VERBS:

Unfortunately, not all verbs behave in the same way.  The two most important verbs to know by heart in the present are to 'to have' and 'to be'.  You will need them in the present tense but also to build the past tense…

TO HAVE                              AVOIR

WE HAVE                                    Nous avons
YOU HAVE                                  Vous avez
THEY HAVE                                Ils / elles ont

ALLER (To go) is the only -er verbs which does not behave like other -er verbs.  The bad news is that you have to learn the endings.  The good news is that once you know them, you also know the future - simply add the infinitive after...I am going (present)….I am going to eat (future)...Je vais (I go)...Je vais manger (I am going to eat ...ie ...I will eat!)

TO GO                                 ALLER

I GO                                              Je vais
YOU GO                                       Tu vas
HE / SHE / WE GO                        Il / elle/ on va
WE GO                                          Nous allons
YOU GO                                        Vous allez
THEY GO                                      Ils / elles vont
