| Arnold Circus Named
after Sir Arthur Arnold (1833-1911) who was an alderman
in the 19th century. He
was who was a writer and the first editor of the Echo
newspaper. As alderman of the borough he was involved in
the building of the Boundary Estate. The Boundary Estates
name is linked to nearby Boundary Street, the historic
Bounds running across the rear of Shoreditch
Churchyard, which now marks the boundary between the
London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Hackney.
One of the
pioneers in the cremation movement in the United Kingdom.
