Edwin Ruthven Kendrick
Edwin Ruthven Kendrick
was born at Mile End, Stepney. He became a ship's captain
and was in charge of a ship, the Inverlochy,
which was wrecked on the Anglesea shores in 1902. The
shipwreck was the result of a mistake in the colour of
lights.
His second wife
sailing with him and the ship had on board a bike and two
pianos for his wife's pleasure and later wrote "that
all she had in the world was aboard the abandoned ship,
including a 100 pounds worth of jewellery, two piano's
and a high grade bicycle, the loss she much regretted".
She also stated that she had been on one long voyage
previously and that had been to Sydney.
