Maps of the Area
The map extracts
are taken from C Smith & Son's Tape Indicator Map of
London date 1913. The coloured map, with ruled quarter
inch squares, has hard covers with a street index and is
on a cloth backing.
The street index
lists 7000 streets and additionally there is an index of
public buildings, Places of amusement, railway stations
etc.
Smith's produced
maps and globes in their own factory at Atlas Works, Pump
Pail, Croydon. The size of their globes ranged from 2 to
18 inches in diameter and cost from 2 shillings to 9
guineas.
The map covers an
area from Goldhawk Road on the west to the western edge
of the Isle of Dogs in the East and Kentish Town on the
north to Putney Park and Hilly Fields on the south.
