The structure of the Worcester VTS Course

For three-year VTS schemes, we have two fixed rotations (Scheme 1 and Scheme 2) and one more flexible scheme (Scheme 3).

We can also offer GP only if you have already done hospital jobs. Or a shorter scheme if you have partially completed some posts or acquired equivalent experience.

Scheme 1

Two years hospital and 1 year General Practice

Scheme 2

Two years hospital and 1 year General Practice

Scheme 3

From six months to two years hospital and 1 year General Practice

Scheme 3 offers a choice of six months in up to four out of these six specialities:

bulletEar, Nose and Throat
bulletObstetrics and Gynaecology
bulletAccident and Emergency  (in Worcester or Australia)
bulletPaediatrics (only in Australia)

If you have done jobs as part of a stand-alone scheme you can join Scheme 3 for six, twelve or eighteen months.

The Australian jobs are at the
Blue Mountains Anzac Memorial Hospital, located in Katoomba, 109 km west of Sydney and 1065m above sea level in the Blue Mountains National Park. It has a total of 95 beds. 
Accommodation is provided . 

General Practice

Our teaching practices are in Cradley, Droitwich, Great Witley, Malvern, Pershore, Worcester and Upton-upon-Severn.

During the SHO years there are whole-day visits to local practices once a term.  Selection of your practice takes place towards the end of your first year on the scheme.
