FoKAB's fleetlist of buses and coaches

Details of TBC 162 added 22/08/07

FoKAB fleet, coach station, Winchester, 1998

Friends of King Alfred Buses looks after 10 buses, two coaches and, from September 2004, one minibus.
10 vehicles are "on the road" but like all elderly vehicles they do need a lot of care and maintenance.
Panther 417 is under restoration, as it needed a complete electrical rewire and general restoration work.
Olympic 708 restoration has commenced but a lot of money is required for this task.
Bedford CAL is in dry storage and is awaiting restoration.

Notes

  1. Under restoration. Completion date unknown. In 2004, Hampshire County Council awarded a small grant towards the preparation of the lower body (not strictly the chassis as body integral).
  2. Originally donated by Burmah Castrol to the Oxford Bus Museum and then on long term loan to FoKAB.
Passed into FoKAB ownership in September 2002.
  3. KAMS purchased minibus from R Richmond & Sons (Epsom) January 1967. Used as a staff bus.
Acquired by FoKAB 25/09/04. Awaiting restoration.
  4. Acquired as a vintage bus transporter - converted back to a coach using body from LAL 547E.
  5. Converted to an open topper for Bristol Omnibus. Present livery is all-over cream
with light and dark green bands. Engine replacement completed August 2004.
  6. Converted to an open topper for Bristol Omnibus but rebuilt 1992, using roof from 591.
    592 was 043/31F when acquired.
  7. In private ownership of David Hurley.
  8. Originally Isle of Man Motor Services 72, KMN 502. Similar to the highbridge KAMS PD2s.
In private ownership of James Freeman. Restoration commenced by reducing 72 to a rolling chassis and restoring brakes, steering etc, with intention of fitting body from IOM Road Services 13, MMN 11. This was found to be too difficult so restored running units are now being fitted to 13. Restoration continues and the bus will eventually be presented as a KAMS PD2.
  9. Purchased to swap with POU 494, found in Augusta, USA. Re-registered RVS 432 before export.
  10. Originally Newport Transport 56. 3 feet shorter than a KAMS Metro-Scania. In private ownership of James Freeman until March 2006. Now owned by the Newport Scania Group who also own ex LT Metro-Scania MS4, PGC 204L, that also carried KAMS livery for a while in preservation.
  11. Acquired by FoKAB 20/05/03 from St John Ambulance, Winchester. Converted into a mobile information unit. First used on 01/01/04 at the King Alfred Buses Running Day.
