So, the start of the second week has dawned. I'm weary and FAT - and, this morning, hungover and LATE!! Caught this game on around 60 minutes. The commentators said things like "this game has been stifled by the heat and lack of ambition", "if only Slovenia would show some urgency" "even now South Africa can't score another". This game was garbage (as of course I knew it would be). Slovenia go home and South Africa march on with a very good chance of qualifying for the next round (though hopefully Paraguay will have something to say about that). Hopefully the Italians will wake me up .... hopefully, they might wake up Croatia........ |
South Africa: Andre Arendse, Cyril Nzama, Aaron Mokoena, Lucas Radebe (capt), Bradley Carnell, MacBeth Sibaya, Teboho Mokoena, Quinton Fortune, Sibusiso Zuma, Siyabonga Nomvethe, Benni McCarthy.
Slovenia: Marko Simeunovic, Zeljko Milinovic, Muamer Vugdalic, Aleksander Knavs, Doni Novak, Ales Ceh (capt), Milenko Acimovic, Miran Pavlin, Amir Karic, Mladen Rudonja, Sebastjan Cimirotic.
Referee: Angel Sanchez (Arg)
This is what I HATE! It's so unsportsmanlike - and all the papers are like it; not just the gutter stuff. "Revenge" everywhere. "We ached for revenge". "Svengeance". It's quite pathetic. | |
