Mathis the USA scorer - a bloody ridiculous haircut is the only way to describe it

5:40. 6:39. Aren't body clocks/subconscience funny! In the end, I had a sharp awakening at 7:20 and stumbled down to another grey, dark, drizzly day of our "summer".

Well worth getting up - a highly entertaining and eventful todo, set in wonderful surroundings! The USA is Italy!!! (The nation formerly known as the "defensive Italy", that is). I thought they did absolutely splendidly to quell the red tide. Equally though, Korea did splendidly with their offensive game. Nice stuff!! Mathis's goal was a great finish - Freidel's penalty save later in the first half, not as difficult as he will boast, but neat all the same. The 2nd half was just about all Korea, but the USA stuck to the task of keeping their lead, admirably. Alas, it was kind of inevitable that the Koreans would eventually break through. Substitute Suzy Wong's goal ended in celebrations of the speed skating kind (juvenile political thing that! :)) - but the USA stuck out for the draw, which should be enough to keep the riot police inactive outside the American Embassy in Soeul (sp?) Having said that, Donovan fluffed a couple clear cut chances to win the game and was disappointed that our Joe-Max didn't come on to win his 100th cap.

Anyway, a most enjoyable game, which makes the Portugal v Poland game later, even more interesting.
