Behold! The rainy season! Time to plant the rice! :)
I must say that I'm astounded with Belgium's stamina! A quick plane ride from Japan to Korea - a change into bigger shorts - and they managed another 90 minutes!! It's hardly surprising, therefore, that they become so immobile! Yes, *even* Portugal did beat Polska - and you can do it too, USA and qualify for the next round (how have you imagined that in your wildest dreams?!). Poland go home after Friday's game, whilst Portugal have the unenviable task of playing Korea - who they must beat if they are to progress (either that or hope that the US don't get the draw they need against Poland).
Portugal played very well. Sometimes they even gave us glimpses of their "sexy" fooIball, but it was difficult, given the slippery surface. Pauleta should've had at least 5 goals and should be top of the Golden Boot table - alas, he became too complacent. Poland were just awful. Said Joe Royle "Olisadebe hasn't kicked the ball straight in two matches", which just about sums them up - as they never subbed him, even though he was so dire. |
I'm not sure how the TV format for the remaining group games is. I am hoping that they just show highlights of the game they don't show live, if they show the whole of the games, there's going to be no time to breathe!

Portugal: Vitor Baia, Jorge Costa, Fernando Couto (capt), Luis Figo, Joao Pinto, Pauleta, Paulo Bento, Sergio Conceicao, Petit, Frechaut, Rui Jorge.
Poland: Jerzy Dudek, Michal Zewlakow, Tomasz Hajto, Piotr Swierczewski, Rodoslaw Kaluzny, Emmanuel Olisadebe, Tomasz Waldoch (capt), Jacek Krzynowek, Maciej Zurawski, Pawel Swierczewski, Marek Kozminski.
Referee: Hugh Dallas (Scotland).
Somebody just posted this to one of the OU Technology forums (much larger pic than this). I'm trying very hard not to smile, or to make comment. Don't they have better things to do????
