THE SVEN COMMANDMENTS

"Commandments" followed, like "though shalt not commit adultery (except me)", so really not worth reprinting.

I have never seen two such terrible football matches, as today's, in my life!!! After 25 minutes 'of this' I'd had enough. Denmark were appalling - England not much better. (And I still have bloody "Colonel Bogey" whirling around my head). England v Brazil??? *lol* Well, actually - yes, I do hope Brazil might beat Belgium, but that's only because there are no darned hotels in Tournai. I've looked and looked and looked .....

There's something wrong with this World Cup. Can't quite put my finger on it. I think it's that there's not enough excitement - or not enough good play - or not enough drama. Or something. It's gone very flat.

I wonder sometimes what it is actually *like* to play football. What it's like to trap or chip or curl a ball (sure as heck I'd never want to header it). What it's like to wear shinpads. What it's like to run from one end of the pitch to another (with somebody chasing you). What it's like to be really, really thirsty/out of breath/needing the toilet - and not being able to do anything about it. Sometimes I think I'm too harsh on footballers, because I don't know what it is they do - or how it feels to do it. And then I watch Germany play - and then England .....
