Whoo!! The studio pundits referred to this as "another shock", but it was hardly that as Mexico and the US had met twice in the qualifiers, which resulted in one win each. However, going on the respective teams' performances in their last games, got to say that I had Mexico as the favourite too. Mexico were disappointing, but the USA played a very, very good game. Both goals were excellent; tactics were spot on; all players (perhaps with the exception of Berhalter) played to their maximum. Mexico did none of those things, but, instead, resorted to a bit of cheating and nasty fouls. That they were down to 10 men by the end of the game (this was actually noticed, unlike in the Spain game yesterday, where it appears that Spain played the entirety of extra time with 10-men, Albelda being injured), came as no surprise.

Preston North End once had Brian McBride on loan, seems.

The USA go on to meet Germany in the quarter finals. I reckon they can do 'em!! :) But, whatever, this has been a great achievement for the Americans.
