I'd forgotten that Turkey were still in the competition! They seem to have been sneaking quietly around and now make it to the quarter finals of a world cup for the first time in their history. I don't think that the thousands upon thousands of blue and plastic clad Japanese supporters (chanting some dirgy anthem throughout, which did my head in) will care too much about that though. This game wasn't really worth getting up to watch. The Japanese players were not their usual flowing selves and the Turks were workmanlike and never gave the impression that they could ever be a part of an entertaining match. Could've been Crewe v Macclesfield really.
