I always quite liked Paraguay - and now they have a birdman and Santa Cruz (Patrik doppelganger; with trim). I said that South Africa wouldn't get a point - but they only got this one courtesy of an own goal and a penalty! There was only one team in the first half - and Cruz and Arce were both excellent. South Africa appeared to be, if not - then nearly, as bad as the other SA. However, due partly to some slack defending and outrageously poor goalkeeping (last game for you Tavarelli - back will come Chilavert) - the South Africans brought the game level in the 2nd half. I don't think they deserved to though. And that scum's Quintin Fortune scored the penalty for them made it even slightly worse (the only other goal he's scored of late, was against Everton in September). |
Noticed that Cesare Maldini's roots weren't orange any longer (though grey). Somebody mentioned that he is 70 years old - well then, he's doing OK for that! (It's surprising to me that Nelson Mandella coaches Nigeria rather than South Africa.) Also noticed that the Paraguay boys were in the same design shorts as the Cameroon (though blue) and have worked out that the nice shorts are Puma and the mesh tops are Adidas.
"Cheekyarsy" kept Pleat happy today.
An important complaint here. We were able to see the second half of this game only because we have Sky Digital - anybody without that or (haha) OnDigital would not have seen it, as the second half was shown on ITV2 only - while ITV spent the whole of that time on the warm-up to the England match. Need they have bothered?
