The CAH support group was formed in 1992. It is a sub group of CLIMB, Children Living With Inherited MetaBolic Diseases, which is a registered charity.
Both CLIMB and the CAH support group exist to
The support group committee is made up entirely of volunteers who meet at least four times a year to discuss the groups progress. All members are welcome to attend these meetings and are encouraged to do so whenever possible. ( Click here to read more about the committee). We hold both national conferences and local meetings at regular intervals. A newsletter is sent out three times a year to members. Our current membership stands at approximately 300 families and 100 professionals. Our key to success is getting information to where it is needed as soon as possible after that need is recognised i.e. at diagnosis. Any support that the group can give at this time is crucial.
The current annual membership fee for the Climb CAH support group is £17.50. This entitles the member to a free information pack, newsletters and reduced conference fees. Membership also confers a vote at the AGM in selecting committee members and having a say in how the group is run. Most importantly it gives the member access to support and advice via telephone, letters, personal visits (where possible) or e-mail. Members can have their questions answered by our board of specialist medical advisors. Climb also has other classes of membership full details of which can be found on the Climb web site.
