Sarah Bond was born in Cornwall in 1961.  Following many years of training and working within the garment industry, in 1988 she attended Falmouth College of Art to further her studies in Art, Fashion Design and Textiles. After finishing college in 1992, Lizzie Shirt Childrenswear was initially set up from her home in Falmouth, but now operates from her workshop on Falmouth’s harbour front.

The name ‘Lizzie Shirt’ originates from an eccentric local character (a pedlar) who lived in the Falmouth area towards the end of the nineteenth century, and helps to promote the business and sales of Cornish products!

The garments are all originally designed, ranging in size from 0-7 years.  The label promotes contemporary, fun colourful clothing with an emphasis on practicality and a high standard of finish.  Using a variety of fabrics - from fleece to hand dyed cottons - designs include dresses, trousers, sweatshirts, jackets, hats and hairbands. The distinctive element in Sarah’s designs being the emphasis on surface decoration, trimmings, and printed and stitched motifs.
