Between Hill top Farm and the camp site, the remnants of Lodge Farm can be seen on the
eastern side. Some sandstone blocks used in its construction can be found. The entrance
was framed by two pillars. An old and large beech tree now stands at this point. Inside
is a levelled expanse where the farm building stood. The derelict surround conceals
cavities and former drainage culverts. A walled garden was along side which has become
very overgrown, a haunt of birds and a home for foxes. Amongst the grass nearby daffodils
maintain their hold. The coppice of young oaks a little way towards the camp have grown
from natural regeneration within the last 30-40 years. The site of the farm embraces a
pleasant outlook on the downward gentle slopes over the fields; Handsworth golf course
and across to the valley of the river Tame. An overgrown lane leads to the lower fields
possible a passage way for cattle to their grazing ground. Many years ago it is
remembered by the name of Lloyds farm where fresh farm eggs and poultry could be purchased.
