Family Memories

Accounts of life and places from the 1880s to the 1980s

After my father retired from work in 1973 he embarked on our Family History. He researched our Family Tree, the work and leisure activities of family members and the places where they had lived. He died 18 years later, after which he had a whole shelf of A4 files containing photos, copies of birth, marriage and death certificates and other material. He had pages and pages of notes, family trees and accounts of the things he had found all neatly written in his immaculate tiny handwriting.

Amongst these are accounts of life as it was in my parents' and grandparents' time and accounts of the areas where they lived. It is these accounts that I present here in these web pages along with a section of my own memories from the 1950s and 1960s in Birmingham.
