In July 97 I was delighted to win the Torness trophy,

Which is the Berwickshire Art Societys top annual award.

Berwickshire Art Society held their annual
exhibition of paintings in Southfield Centre last week. The exhibition was the biggest ever staged by the society with a total of 175 paintings on show. The Torness Cup for the best painting,judged by Lord Lieutenant Sir John Swinton, was won by Dunbar artist Gordon Jenkinson.He is pictured above receiving the trophy from Sir John. |

The painting is a watercolour and titled
simply " Preston", the size is 12"x8" |

and the finished painting.

Aviation art was one reason I began
painting eight years ago, but 1999 was the first time I entered a painting into the guilds annual exhibition in London.
The painting accepted was an acrylic
seascape depicting an RAF Sea King search and rescue helicopter. |
|
I was even more delighted to win this wonderful trophy
in 2002 for a second time, selected from an exhibition
which allways displays superb paintings.
