Southern Counties League Teams from several counties compete in a multi-division league throughout the playing season. In the Southern Counties League South Downs Scrabble Club has two teams participating – Southdown Sovereigns and Southdown Scorpions. Southern Counties Knock-Out Cup Sussex Scrabble Shield An annual 2 legged competition that is played between South Downs Scrabble Club (ex Hailsham Scrabble Club) and Brighton & Hove Scrabble Club.
Trivia Scrabble was developed by Alfred Butts, an architect, in 1931. It was originally called ‘Criss-Cross’. After being redesigned and renamed, James Brunot marketed the game in 1948. It was first sold in Britain in 1954.
The longest word, to our knowledge, that can be made from the letters on the top row of a QWERTY keyboard that is permissible in UK tournaments is ’RUPTUREWORT’. Unless you know different, of course.
