South Downs Scrabble Club

ABOUT US

Our club was formed on 6th October 1994, though in those days it was known as Hailsham Scrabble Club. We used to meet in a room at the local Leisure Centre. An unexpected hike in the room rental charges by the local council gave the club no option other than to seek an alternate venue. As a consequence the club relocated to Eastbourne in 1998. With a change of venue it was thought that the club would benefit from a new name; South Downs Scrabble Club was chosen.

The club meet each Thursday evening at 19:30 hrs in the comfortable setting of Lloyd Lodge, the David Lloyd Centre, Broadwater Way, Hampden Park, Eastbourne, East Sussex. Outside there is a spacious car park that can accommodate many vehicles. Should you require it, snacks and drink are  available within the complex.

In a friendly environment you can play at either a competitive or social level, both are accommodated within the club. To facilitate players of different abilities the club employs a full handicap system that strives to make all games evenly matched. We endeavour to attempt to cater for players of all abilities and ages.
