This book deals with one of Africa's resilient realities, the one that refused to disappear into museums: ethnicity and nationalism. Part III illustrates how some governments responded to ethnicity and ethnic conflicts. It attempts to unravel contemporary developments with the ultimate aim of indicating how African ethnicity could be positively channeled towards constructive ends In other words, it is to demonstrate what ethnicity could contribute to the betterment of human life in a continent devastated by warfare, disease, poverty and political misrule.
