Focus Farms

The Focus Farm Programme is yet another programme funded under the EU Programme for Peace & Reconciliation. Here in Northern Ireland 80 focus farms have been established. These farms demonstrate good practice across a range of farming sectors – from beef, sheep, dairying and arable, to equine, pigs, horticulture and diversified enterprises.
There has been a dramatic down turn in farm incomes in the past few years and farmers are facing further challenging times ahead. Our Group has visited some of these focus farms to see how others are dealing with issues such as farm waste management, CAP Reform and falling prices in beef and milk.
Our hosts willingly shared their knowledge and experiences and encouraged us to make further contact even on an individual basis, should we wish to discuss any matter in more detail.

Our return journey home always included a meal at a local restaurant!
