Headwork's
main driving force exists within the extraordinary determination and
passion in what they do. The band take careful thought and consideration
when writing their music, and this has proved vital, in managing to bridge
the gap that usually exists between modern atmospheric
music, and the harder musical styles of today. This creative application
enables them to blend these different styles of music. Naturally they
do have their own style integrated within the music, and this is the
element that gives Headwork a commercial and competitive edge. Sometimes
when composing the band is prepared to join songs, usually this is done in
order to add a concept to the music (a form of pre-production whilst
composing, before the recording). For
instance the song ' In this World I ' in short, is a slow rock type ballad
that comes to an end with an excellent guitar piece. Towards the end of
the song it fades off gradually with the bass line, leaving only the
strings and sweep pads to blend into the next track. On follows ' In this
World II ' it's initialized by the sweeping ambient synths that
beckons on the bass line, that has a distinct reggae feel to it. Jungle
style hi hats and snares build the track slightly and soon settle down
with native Indian style vocals throughout. It really is an uplifting,
atmospheric piece of music. This is a typical example of Headwork's
ability to blend sometimes-extreme contrasting styles. Their influences
include bands such as, The Stranglers, U2, Blur, Manic Street Preachers,
Suede, The Damned, The Police, Pink Floyd, Bill Nelson, and reggae artists
such as, Black Uhuru, and Lee Scratch Perry. Headwork has already
attracted the attention of a number of record companies such as, Arula
Records and Raspberry Records. Headwork's live performances consist of a
group of sets picked from their vast portfolio. The results are an
intriguing blend of catchy originality, and dark commercialism. Proving
very popular with audiences so far encountered. |
