Edwin Richard George Quittenton is my Grandfather, who unfortunately I never had the privilege of Knowing, as he died when I was one year old.
Before, after and during the war, he was a professional driver of cars and heavy goods vehicles.
He married Lilly Hamilton and they had six children, One of them being my Dad," God rest his soul".
Once I had read my Grandfather's experience it gave me the feeling that not only was he lucky to survive, but that he thought enough about the others to endanger his life to rescue as many as possible.
Hence the idea for this site, to try and find out any other details relating to his time in Northern France, and if possible to find anyone who heard or was involved in the situation in which my Grandfather found himself.
Since the I first uploaded this sit I have found that he joined the Territorial Army on the 25th April 1940 being attached to the R.A.S.C. Expeditionary Force Institutes. with his number being 148724 Quittenton. Where upon he was sent to Northern France
If anyone can give me any information please let me know at heathq@lineone.net
