History: The 704th was constituted on July 30th 1943 and assigned top the 4th Infantry Division after activation on 1st August at Fort Dix, New Jersey. The 704th serverd throughout WW2 participating in all five of the 4th Divisions campaigns. After wars end, on 1st December 1945, the unit was redesignated the 704th Ordnance Maintenace Company. Atfer periods in an inactive and active state in the 1950's and 1960's the unit was revived yet again in 1987, designated the 704th Support Battalion and has served with the 4th Infantry Division ever since.
