In 1983 Anthony Powell spent two and a half months as part of the Kashmir Botanical Expedition.

He will outline the rationale and structure of the expedition and describe both its highs and lows. As the trip was primarily funded by selling seed shares, one of its principal objectives was to find garden-worthy plants - an objective that was amply realised.

Now that the political situation makes visiting Kashmir increasingly difficult, this talk will provide a window on a remote, beautiful and plant-rich part of the world.
