  1. [S992] David Coast and others MI (87), Hothfield Graveyard, Hothfield, Kent, The fortuitous survival from the end of the nineteenth century of a transcription of memorial inscriptions at Hothfield graveyard, has facilitated the identification of members of the Coast family of Hothfield, resident there in the first half of the nineteenth century. The most important inscription is also the lengthiest; not only does it identify the progenitors (and their dates of birth and death) but it also appears to set out the 8 progeny in the order of birth. Details of the deaths of 5 of the 8 are given; the names of the "missing" three appear on two other memorials grouped closely to this. The full series is as follows:

[86] "Elizabeth COAST wife of Thomas Coast, 14th December 1899 aged 73. Emily Jane CALTON daughter of above, January 17th 1900. Also Thomas Coast, 8th February 1902 in 81st year."
