This is a website by writers for writers. It’s an introduction to
South West Writers and what we’re all about.

In the coming year we’ll be holding our regular fortnightly meetings in our regular slot at Shortlees Community Centre, Mondays from 7-9 pm.
The atmosphere is kept light and we have had many nights of fun and laughter reading out our work to each other. (Allan is still recovering from the time Alex did a parody of ‘Mills & Boon’ fiction.)

We hope to bring out quarterly issues of ‘Omega’ our new magazine during the course of the year!

And of course we’ll still be holding those poems and pints nights!

What’s New

Come along and see for yourself the relaxed and informal writing environment of South West Writers. We believe that the creative juices flow in two ways:

1) Through hard work

2) Through discussion.

Being a writer is a lonely and often frustrating experience. Often you don’t know where you’re heading until you’re in the company of like-minded people. Well, you’ll find us at South West Writers.

The World Of Writing

At South West Writing we believe in giving you a supportive and caring environment for the work you want to create. We are not there to criticise so much as to give you an outlet for your creations. You will find that going to the group gives you greater opportunities and a wider audience for writing that might not have seen the light of day before. You’ll have a real live audience and instant feedback for your words. At the very least your self-confidence will get a boost, when you find that you can read in front of others. Better still, you won’t be embarrassed because you’ll be among like-minded people who have been through the same process themselves!
