Programme of Visits by the M.E. & Revd. Grand Master

In addition to the above Programme the M.E. & Rev. Grand Master Roy Scott will visit the District Grand Priories and Preceptories in South Africa during March/April. The Great Priory of Germany in May, and will attend the 2003 Triennial Conference which will now be held under the auspices of The Great Priory of Greece in September.   

The Funeral of Em.Fra.John K. Hunter, PP recipient of the Grand Masters Award

St. John Canongate Kilwinning - Fratres are requested to attend the funeral service of Em. Fra. John K. Hunter, PP, upon whom the distinction of the Grand Master's Award had been bestowed. A funeral service will take place at Mortonhall Crematorium, Main Chapel, on Tuesday 10 June at 12 noon to which all are respectfully invited. The service will be conducted by Rev. Fra. Henry L. Williamson, Grand Chaplain, of Great Priory.

For those who are driving to Edinburgh - join the Edinburgh bypass A720 South, past Dreghorn and Lothianburn Junctions, take the next - Straiton Junction, A701 road into Edinburgh to Mortonhall, Howden Hall Road, Liberton. Visitation to the Great Priory of Ireland

On Wednesday, 4 June, Rt. Em. Fra. Robert Finnie, PP, GCT Grand Seneschal, Rt. Em. Fra. David A C Niven, PP, KCT Grand Secretary & Rt. Em. Fra. Gavin K Wardrope, PP, KCT Grand Treasurer attended the Muster of the Great Priory of Ireland which was held in Dublin. The usual warm welcome, & excellent hospitality was extended to our Grand Officers.  

Visitation to the Great Priory of England & Wales

On Wednesday, 21 May, Rt. Em. Fra. Robert Finnie, PP GCT Grand Seneschal & Rt. Em. Fra. Gavin K Wardrope, PP KCT Grand Treasurer attended the Muster of the Great Priory of England & Wales which was held in Birmingham. Both were very well received, and were extended the usual excellent hospitality.

The Annual McKean Bowling Tournament Saturday, 24 May

The District Grand Priory of Ayrshire hosted the annual McKean Bowling Competition at Springside Bowling Club on Saturday 24 May. After being warmly welcomed by the District Grand Prior Rt. Em. Fra. James Hodge, PP the bowlers took to the green. This Competition is now in its seventieth year the trophy being presented in 1933 by the then District Grand Prior Rt. Em. Fra. McKean.
The ten Preceptories in Ayrshire were all represented and after an excellent afternoon's bowling the winners were the Preceptory of Catrine & Sorn with the rink of Tommy McBlain, Patick McBlain, Jim Dobie and Reid Allan (Skip) who finally overcame the Preceptory of Cunningham in a closely contested final and the booby prize was accepted in a very sporting manner by the Preceptory of Muirkirk.
A most enjoyable day was had by all despite a slight shower of rain but this was made up for by the hospitality, and friendship given by Springside Bowling Club. After an excellent meal the raffle was drawn and the star prize of a litre of "Haigs Dimple" going to V. Em. Fra. Tom McDowall of Moira Union.
Our District Grand Prior Jim thanked the President of Springside the Ladies Section, and the Bar Staff for the hospitality and service. Thanks was also given to V. Em. Fra. Jim Edgar of Crosbie Preceptory  for the organising and smooth running of the Tournament. Our District Grand Prior also extended thanks to all the Preceptories and individuals who donated prizes to the raffle for which the sum of £160.00 was raised for the District Grand Priory of Ayrshire Charity Fund.         
 

 Installation of the District Grand Prior of the North in Scotland

The Installation of the new District Grand Prior & his Com
missioned Officers took place on Saturday, 31 May in the Masonic Temple, Wick. The M.E. & Rev. Grand Master, Roy Scott & the Grand Officers of Great Priory carried out the Installation Ceremony in a very capable manner. The new District Grand Prior is Rt. Em. Fra. Peter Fannon, PP HGP. The Grand Masters Award 2003

Congratulations are accorded to Em. Fra. A B S Richardson, PP of Crosbie Preceptory for being the recipient of this years Grand Masters Award. Em. Fra. Richardson was presented with the Award by the M.E. & Rev. Grand Master Roy Scott at the Annual Divine Service of the District Grand Priory of Ayrshire on11 May at Kilmarnock. Promotion

Congratulations are also afforded to the District Grand Secretary of Ayrshire V. Em. Fra. Peter Watson, CLJ CMLJ FSA (Scotland) PP on being promoted to Deputy Grand Steward at the Annual Muster of Great Priory on 11 March.  

Sponsored Bike Run

In early July a sponsored bike run in aid of CLIC (Cancer and Leukemia in Children) and the Eden Valley Hospice will be undertaken by Ven. Fra. Iain Glennie, IPP of Lincluden Abbey, and  member of the M. E. & Rev. Grand Masters Bodyguard, and D.G. Warder, of the District Grand Priory of Dumfries & Galloway.

Donations to Charities

The Great Priory of Scotland have donated £1000 to each of the following Charities: The Children's Hospice Association (CHAS) and Cancer & Leukemia in Children (CLIC)

The CHAS Hospice Appeal is now collecting used computer print cartridges and old mobile phones. You can request appeal envelopes by calling 08451 30 20 10. Please support this most worthwhile cause. The District Grand Priory of Ayrshire have been very busy over the past few months with this Appeal.

Annual Muster

The Annual Muster of The Great Priory of Scotland was held in Freemasons' Hall 96 George Street Edinburgh on Tuesday 11 March 2003. At the Annual Muster a Deputation was received from the Great Priory of Finland as well as Members from the Great Priory of England.
