Millennium Event
The Millennium weekend was well attended and great fun, thanks in part to the excellent weather, but more to the good organisation of Vic Smith, Martin Solomon and their supporting teams. Very many thanks to all who helped to make it such a success.
There were 38 boats on the water on the Sunday morning when the aerial photographs were taken. We would like a list of them all for the record, but not everyone registered their details. The list of those who we know were there is attached - please let me know if you were there, but are not listed.
Millennium Photographs
The aerial photographs are displayed in the Clubhouse.
Many photographs were also taken on the shore that day, and it is felt that the best way to commemorate the event would be with one or more composite pictures. To this end Vic Smith has offered to host a

If you have good photographs from the event please bring them along (or let us have copies). We will then have a review of all the available material with a view to producing composites and giving the membership a chance to purchase these (and a selection of the best individual photographs).
Please let Vic know if you are going to attend (if numbers get very high we may move to the Club House) - Tel 01903 856279.
Dart 15 Open
Many thanks to Alan Welman, and all who helped him organise the weekend visit by the Dart 15 Open team. All who participated enjoyed it, and we managed to match the visitors for numbers of racing catamarans even though we did not impress them much with our speed.
ODC Millennium Commemorative Plaques
Have you seen the advertisement (and a sample) of ODC Year 2000 plaques on the Club House notice board?
Trailers will be disposed of
There are several trailers which appear to have been abandoned in the compound; most were at the eastern end of the compound near the sail lockers and are beyond being of any further use. They have all been moved to the back of the toilet block and will be disposed of if not reclaimed by 14th July - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Treasurer Needed
Having done several years as Treasurer for the club, Rod Newing wishes to stand down at the end of this year. Any member who would be prepared to take on this important role please let me or any committee member know. It would be advantageous to have an overlap period for the incoming treasurer to gain a full insight into the accounts before the formal hand over.
Message from a Founder member
Those of you who have been in the ODC for a long time will enjoy the message (attached) which was received recently from the Kenwards. They retain their social membership, but visit very rarely as they live in Cornwall.

Dear Mr Commodore and Members,
First, let me congratulate you all on 25 years plus of fun sailing.
Secondly my Husband Bob and I are so sorry we are unable to attend the Millenium Madness. We would have loved to attend the Hog Roast but living here in Cornwall I'm affraid that isn't possible.
As you probably know, Bob was one of the founder members of the O.D.C. Both he and I spent many happy hours sailing (he was known as Kamikaze Kenward) off Angmering beach.
Every week-end was spent at the club, we even used to cook our Breakfast down there !!
Our first boat was a "Puffin" a very small polystyrene craft (it put our children off for life) our second was a "Skipper" which Bob modified and it went like the clappers. THEN to the surprise of some members, he changed it and bought the first Catamaran into the club the "Swift" next came the "Dart" which we named "Touch of Class", this was badly damaged in a gale and was blown over the compound wall, which as you may guess was a complete write off. It was replaced with another "Dart" named "Just a Touch" by this time there was a whole series of Darts all with names starting with " Touch of ----- I believe "Touch of Madness is still with the club. Finally came our "Mystere" which we named "Mr & Mrs" we sold this to Rex Wilton's Son.
Please remember us to all our old friends, we hope to pop in and see you all later in the year. Happy Sailing. Regards from Betty and Bob Kenward
