Hi Folks,
The weather was certainly perfect for the Sailing Regatta/Hog Roast Weekend and our recently held Fun Day.
Saturday /Sunday14th/15th
July-HOG ROAST/SAILING REGATTA
For those who participated we had superb Sailing Regatta weekend, together with the Hog Roast held on Saturday evening.
Martin Kirby and his wife Ruth organised some super races, a total of seven spread over Saturday and Sunday. Martin introduced the new concept of back-to-back races of which three were held on Saturday morning and three on Sunday. These races proved a real success with a shorter duration for each race, but with the benefit of staying on the water for the next race. Your Commodore tried out his recent Dart 15 acquisition on the Saturday morning and as Derek Chambers commented at the Hog Roast ‘It was nice to see the Commodore bringing home the fleet’ i.e. I came Last, Last and Last- Thanks Derek.
After the race results went through the electronic sausage machine in the clubhouse the overall weekend winners were.
Mono Class Norman
and Helen Thorne.
Cat
Class Adrian
Vincent and Crew.
The net proceeds of the weekend from race entrants, Hog Roast and Raffle was £250 which the club made up to £300 and a cheque has been sent off to the RNLI.
Thanks again to Bob Murdoch for supplying some great prizes and of
course to Martin and Ruth for the overall Race organisation. We will try and
make this an annual event.
Sunday 29th July-
FAMILY FUN DAY
Fred Young worked his magic with the weather last Sunday for our Fun Day. Fred and Sue set out an entertaining programme, which was geared to the family involvement. Twelve contestants started the day with the sand castle building competition. A fine variety of castles and sand designs were produced and resulted in three worthy winners. After the lunchtime BBQ the Scavenger Hunt started with teams of Mums, Dads, and Children scouring the beach, compound, and car park for a whole variety of hidden objects. The winners were rewarded with some nice sweaty treats. With the sun beating down, temperatures soaring and very little wind the rest of the day’s events were postponed and all young contestants were rewarded with a cooling ice cream from Robin’s Kiosk. Thanks Fred and Sue for organising the day it was excellent to see so many family members enjoying themselves.
