What (or who) is Duke Nukem?

Duke is a first-person shoot-em-up produced by 3DRealms in 1996. It is quite playable on a fast 486 with 8 Meg of ram, has a cool multiplayer mode and (here's the fun bit) a full map and art editor bundled on the CD.

Map convertor

This program turns any Duke Nukem map file into a HPGL plotter file. This file can be read into many drawing or DTP packages as well as driving a Hewlett-Packard pen plotter directly. Click here to download the Duke3D map convertor (20K zip file)

Random Map Maker

This package will generate playable pseudo-random maps for the Duke Nukem 3D game. You can customise the maps in many ways for example to include certain textures, weapons and enemies. The maps are very simple, and are not intended to replace proper human-designed ones. However if you enjoy finding your way round mazes full of bad guys, you might quite like it. Click here to download the Random Map Maker (44K zip file). If you would rather compile it yourself, or are just plain curious, here are the Map Maker Source Files (17K zip file).

Links

Once there were hundreds of Duke3d pages but sadly most have gone. It is rather pointless maintaining a list here when you can go straight to Hallkon's Other Duke Nukem3D Pages
