SHINING SKILLS

increased effectiveness through increased expertise

Improving Processes

Many organisations know that there is room for improvement in the way work is done. A major focus these days is on improving processes rather than just work.
These three days introduce a structure which allows you to identify and improve business processes. During the course you will examine a variety of techniques to work with at each stage of the structure. The course is "low tech" and is suited to staff from all parts of the organisation.

Running Successful Projects

Projects are successful because they are properly set up and well managed.

This course covers the basics of starting the project so that the chance of success is maximised, the project is well planned and effectively managed.

Motivation That Works

We expect managers and supervisors to ensure their staff are motivated. But often the staff don’t feel the same way.

This course explores not only theories of motivation but also considers what specific action participants can use to increase the motivation of their staff.

How to Train

Three days will not turn you into an experienced trainer. But after this hard working course you will know how to structure and develop material that will form the basis for effective training. And you will also practise the skills of delivery - everyone will deliver at least two training sessions.

Managing Yourself

Over two days participants examine how their behaviour patterns and ways of working affect their use of time.
This course extends the basics of Time Management and addresses objective setting, planning - both tasks and time, organising yourself and your work, handling interruptions, and delegation.

The course uses logs to identify how time is used and mis-used.

People Management

This participative day starts by identifying three fundamental theories which explain many of the reasons people behave as they do. It then focuses on delegation, motivation, assertion and managing conflict.
During the day you will explore varies theories of motivation via a series of exercises and discussions.
You will spend time identifying the implications of the theories and what, specifically, you can do at work to move from theory to practice.

Solving Problems; Taking Decisions

We all face problems at work and outside. This course considers different approaches to identifying problems and identifying potential solutions. It then goes on to discuss different methods of deciding which solution to implement.
