Three Lancashire Ballads, for solo violin and strings, commissioned by Strings Together with a grant from the National Lottery, 1st perf. Jennifer Pike (solo violin), Strings Together, conductor David Vernon, Bolton, 2000. (Orchestral string parts Grade 4-6).

Choral Works

"Time and Tide", chorus and orchestra, commissioned by Abingdon and District Musical Society for their 100th concert with a grant from Southern Arts. 1st perf. 1981. "A Christmas Carol", musical based on Dickens' novel, written especially for Stamford Endowed Schools. Perfs. in 1986 and 1988.

Missa Brevis, S.A.T.B. Chorus and Piano, commissioned by Warwick University with a grant from West Midlands Arts. 1st perf. 1990.

"Summer in Winter", carol for S.A.T.B. and organ, commissioned by Stamford and District Musical Society. Performances by choirs of Manchester Cathedral, Chetham's Chamber Choir, Blackburn Cathedral, Chester Bach Singers, Chester Cathedral Choir, 1992-2000, broadcast by BBC. Recording released in 1993 (Blackburn Cathedral).

Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, S.A.T.B. choir a cappella (eight parts with solo countertenor or alto), commissioned by Ribchester Camerata. 1st performance Norwich Cathedral, August 1998.

Chamber Works

String Quartet no. 5, 1st movt. performed by Northern Sinfonia Ensemble, final of MidNAG competition, 1985; Honourable Mention, Carl Maria von Weber International Contest, Dresden 1985; 1st complete perf. Bingham Quartet, RAM 1988 promoted by the SPNM. Performance at QuartetFest 2000, RNCM, Manchester 2000.

VE Day, A Commemoration, for brass sextet and optional live electronics, commissioned by Manchester Cathedral. 1st perf. 1995.
